Talk to any Philly enthusiast and they’ll tell you cream
cheese pairs well with almost any food. It’s an excellent addition to thousands
of desserts, makes addicting party dips, and can even be used to make pasta
sauce. It’s not hard to imagine cream cheese stuffed into
French toast or
layered in lasagna, but what about cream cheese and … anchovies? Hmmm… there
are some “unique” cream cheese combos that people claim to truly enjoy.
Interesting pairs I like are Philly with jicama, Philly stuffed baked plums,
and cream cheese with edamame. Here are a few other crazy combos…
Philly + Spicy Cheeto’s
Philly +
(think creamsicle)
Philly + Brussels Sprouts
Philly + Curry Sauce
Philly + Summer Squash
Philly + Pistachios

Baked Philly Plums
Recipe:
4 Plums
8oz Strawberry Philly, softened slightly
½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
¼ cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup brown sugar
foil.
Wash plums and slice a thin piece off the bottom of each so
they can “sit up.”
Slice off the tops where stem is located and use a melon
baller to scoop out pit and form a cavity you can fill with cream cheese. Set
aside.
In medium mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, spices, and
pecans. Fill each plum with cream cheese mixture then sprinkle with brown
sugar.
Place plums on cookie sheet and bake in preheated oven for
about 8 minutes or until plum is soft and brown sugar caramelized. Serve with
vanilla ice cream, fork and knife.
